Turns out you can't drop ship on Amazon. But you can on eBay, & obviously your own or other sites like shopify.

So I'll have to rethink a few things.

I'm not sure on the legalities of selling products direct from your rented home. That's why I'm looking to drop ship.

During a comms session this week, some new employee benefits were introduced in our company (I work for SSE).

The one that interests me the most, & the one I'll be taking advantage of is the technology loans.

What it means is that if you're looking for a new computer, laptop, tablet or printer for your home, or any collection of these up to the value of £2000, the company will pay for them & then take it from your gross pay over 6 or 12 months.

I was planning on getting a new laptop anyway, ahead of launching an online business in a few months. So it has come at just the perfect time. Sold my old laptop yesterday to Cash Converters for 70 quid.

I'm not sure I'll use the full 2k though as I don't believe it's necessary. A decent laptop for about 5 or 6 hundred will do just fine. Perhaps a printer although I'm not entirely sure I'd need one for an online business, or why I'd need one.

Early in July I'll get a cheque for nearly 2k for my participation in a medical trial that starts next weekend. This is going to be essential capital for starting out in business, & I'll do my best to use it wisely & to full effect.

I've got a feeling that everything is just going to work the fuck out.

(Almost) Ran a 6 minute mile yesterday.

I did it in 6:09.

The day before I did it in 6:53. So I shaved 44 seconds off in one day.

I'll beat 6 minutes on Monday.

I set a half mile time of 2:35 last September when I was trying for a 5 minute mile not knowing it would nearly kill a motherfucker if you've never before attempted anything like it and you just jump in. That was setting the treadmill to 20kph from the offset, the maximum speed available in PureGym, which gives you a mile in exactly 5 minutes. I timed it first.

I'll get the 5 minute mile one day.

I might as well set a time for 100 meters too.

Has anyone got any comparable sprint or mile times to share?

EDIT: Just realised a 100 meter sprint would be shit on a treadmill cos it takes a bit to speed up. So I'll be sticking with the mile for now.

Well done Dan

You know most treadmills will give you a min/mile metric?

dan300 06-06-2017 05:04 PM

Well Dale there's a few things the treadmill shows me that I don't fully understand such as pace per minute etc things like that.

But I'll have a look for the min/mile one. Or maybe that's got something to do with the pace!?

If I'm right in thinking then, by running a little extra I can actually set a faster mile time because I won't have to count the part where the treadmill has to speed up. Instead just taking the fastest mile time from the full speed I set it at.

That shouldn't be a problem for me I've been doing hill sprints for about a year now although that's been doing HIIT.

Interested to try a mile with the 5 degrees although 5 degrees ain't that much now that I'm so accustomed to sprinting at 10 degrees plus, even up to the maximum 15.

It's not the same thing. You need an incline of about 5 degrees to simulate the experience of actually running.

30 minutes before finishing time today, my boss turned & asked me if I'd like a career change.

It's internal of course, & I'd be switching from my current role in compliance, to the admin team.

Recently 3 or 4 of the team left to pursue other jobs elsewhere, & as a result now the admin team are behind, meaning they need more heads.

I'm sure in the long term, administration would be repetitive & boring as fuck. However since I'm planning to launch my own business soon, my long term future is as yet unknown.

One of benefits for me are that I get set hours, as opposed to doing 4 different shifts on a rotational basis between the hours of 8am to 6:30pm. It means I'd always be out of the office by 4:30 or 5pm. This extra time will come in useful.

If nothing else, I'll gain admin experience. Which is another area that can go on the CV.

I like a change from time to time. Fuck it, why not.

Even though I've been doing a whole bunch of research in recent months, this is the first big step. Nothing would be happening without a new PC..

Now I have this, I should be getting more of a move on.

I didn't bother getting Microsoft office with it. Has anyone ever tried the free alternatives like LibreOffice or GoogleDocs?

dan300 06-07-2017 09:36 AM

I assume then that using Linux or Libreoffice for spreadsheets is decent?
