My First Day -

So as some of you may know, I am very new to this and approaching random people is a whole new concept to me. I have looked at many videos and spoken to some of you on here, some people had ideas of openers, whereas others said to go with what feels natural.
I done 2 (sort of) approaches today. Approach 1 - I was sitting next to a girl on the bus, there was a boy on our bus who happens to live near me and suffers from some kind of learning / behavioral difficulties. He got of and was pretending he could fly across the road and skipping high in the air etc. I saw her looking out the window smiling at what he was doing (I was sitting between her and the window). I looked at her and smiled and explained that he lives near me and has learning / behavioral difficulties. It turns out she knew him as she works in the local A&E department and he often pops by for a chat with the staff. We got on to talk about different types of mental illness and our jobs etc, the conversation ended when the bus terminated. Approach 2 (sort of) - I was walking down the street and I saw a girl standing in the middle of the pavement with a clipboard, she looked at me and smiled and I smiled back. As I got closer she said "how are you" and we got talking about my job, then the conversation moved on to what pets we had and general chit chat. She then went on to explain that she was part of a team campaigning for human rights and asking for supporters. I told her I would check out their website and help if I could, but at this time I am not in a position to donate to a 3rd Charity as I already support two. (I don't, but she doesn't know that, plus it was a polite way to say no). Thats where the conversation ended. Conclusion I don't really class the second as an approach, but I thought it was a good way to experience talking to a girl and leading a conversation in a busy street with people passing by while we are talking, laughing etc. On both occasions I let the conversation come to a natural close and did not attempt a number close. This is mainly because I wanted to practice and experience random conversations with strangers. I think I left enough detail there without going into too much depth, If anyone would like any additional information, or would like to provide any thoughts and / or feedback, it would be appreciated.

This is good man. More of this kind of thing. Don't worry about whether it's a 'proper approach', just get used to talking to people all the time

Some FR's you read and think "oh god another approach machine weirdo" but not this one, you sound like you have your head screwed on. Keep it simple like this and keep doing it, you will be absolutely fine.
