I've just put a couple of anti-spam measures into place.

This should not affect the vast majority of you.

users will be slightly restricted until they have made at least 15 posts.

If anyone experiences any problems, please shoot me a PM.

Is there a way of introducing like a verification signature during the process of signing up. It seems the last few days, there have been spam bots working overtime on the forum. I hate them spammers. Just a thought!

We have Recaptcha installed, the world standard captcha software.
This stops 99% of spambots.

There is one revolutionary piece of spam software which can crack captchas, which I (and many other tech geeks) are quite impressed by. But it's still annoying. And as Jaz said, you get the occasional manual spammers.

Do people really stupid enough to fall for these spammers and buy what they have to offer? What a waste of bloody time...

Can you put a ban on accounts with all numbers as the name? because that's what all the spammers seem to use

The very same thing occurred to me.
Will look into it stopping this shit is my next priority.

Just a few ideas
Can you have a checking process where your membership has to be approved first by admins? Or have to post in the introductions first before posting in another section?
