Showing of new posts

Is anyone else finding this annoying or is it just me and i'll have to just put up with it?

When I log in it only shows the new posts since i last logged in!
Say for example i just want to check one post and login via my phone when i'm out, this then counts as the last login and when i then login again I've possibly missed reading loads of posts as they don't show that they are new anymore!

Does that make sense?

Should it not be that it clears the post from being new, once you've actually read it.
