Shah's Matched Betting

Prepare for mediocrity! I am doing a matched betting thread, discussion, semi-journal.

I'm using this link to learn from:

MoneySavingExpert.com Forums - Board Agreement - READ HERE - Introductory Guide and FAQ - START HERE

Very in depth. I've read it twice over this week and I will sign up to everything tonight and tomorrow.

The thread is quite old so most of the sites are probably out of date.

What sites does everyone recommend? Betfair + whatever bookie sites are offering a free-bet, is my take on how you do this. Is that correct?

I plan on using one bank account and one card through-out the entire endeavor is this allowed?

I'm certain on both of those answers but double checking with some experienced people can't hurt. My float is £1000 of overdraft, and my goal is an extra £1000 in cash in my bank account to use by the end of the month. I have all the time in the day theoretically to make this money every day as university is over and no commitments.

Tomorrow is my first true bet. A cheap £10 one, then build up and up and up.

One final question; at the beginning can I spend a full few days racking up matched bets? Or is it quite hard actually finding a bet that's equal odds to lay and back? As the free-bet listing websites which have so many good free-bet offers seem to imply I could just go through them all and make thousands in a matter of days (There's about 12 or so free-bets that add up to 900 on the front page alone). It doesn't look like it'd take more than a few days even if you include bet-throughs and finding good odds.

Apart from that I feel I understand it fully now but plan on reading it twice-three times before my first bet (tomorrow) then hopefully just blasting out tonnes in a few all dayers or at least a good few hours, if that's possible with finding bets.

Woah, hadn't realised your float was an overdraft, you sure you're making the best decision here mate? Make sure you have a contingency plan and don't bet more than you can afford to lose. I know that sounds a bit crap but people screw themselves over this way.

Shahanshah 06-06-2014 01:30 PM

Yeah okay Ill get my first bet done tonight or tomorrow. To be honest I'm not bothered about bigger or better bets coming along, I just need the £1000 by the 30th ;)

And D!ce Im sure if I'm careful, follow the rules and formula I can't go too wrong.

D!ce 06-06-2014 01:37 PM

Sounds like famous last words, but good luck regardless!

Shahanshah 06-06-2014 02:14 PM

Steve Jobs would do the same.

Because he decided not to conform to conventional medicine, conventional medicine is too mainstream, apple hipsters prefers homeopathic shit.

I never realised it was the stress of matched betting that polished him off.

Intriguing thread. I've been dabbling with low odds footy bets recently. Been doing well. Not taken it to a scientific level yet.

D!ce 12-06-2014 08:40 AM

Hows your first week of betting been going Sha?

Rebus 12-06-2014 04:45 PM

Anyone done some matched bets on World Cup yet?

I'm learning about this... with matched betting, as long as you arrange it correctly, you can make a profit out of ANY outcome, right? So personal opinion (alleged football knowledge) of backing some outsider team to, say, win the World Cup is not too important?

Shahanshah 16-06-2014 09:45 PM

I never got around to it out of making seem like too much than it really was.

Just did my first bet right now and I swear I did it wrong haha if I have it was only a £5 bet and I know what to do next time. Will find out first though. Its actually really easy though. Hopefully I can really rack up some money if I do tonnes of bets a day. With the world cup there should be no shortage. Right now there are tonnes of 'close' odds games for it all. If I understand it properly, by putting in a few hours a day I should have my £1000 goal easily!! Is it too good to be true??

Oh yeah, with bet-throughs a friend of mine told me you have to do '200' of them to get your money out. That can't be true. He was just chatting shit right?

Gunna read through the guide to matched betting once more. Try and get a dozen or so done tomorrow now I've split my matched betting hymen.

Barney Stinson 19-08-2014 08:45 PM

How's this going dude?

Atm I'm betting on the horses, frankly there's more money to be made, however a greater risk. Deposited £40 and made just over £428. If you're betting on horses I recommend going for outsiders with good form, depending on trip and class. Much better odds and a chance for the win, got a 50/1 win today in my patent paid £83.41 from 80p bet (40p e/w).

If you do, check out this site Latest Horse Racing Results | The Betting Site on the side there's tips and form stats along with trainer/owner comments.

So to re-vive an old post - Shah/Barney did you ever do this and if so how did you get on?

Someone at work who I got talking to today said they do this & has been comfortably making £500 a month steady since August, and that someone else he knows averages between £1200 - £2000 a month.

I've heard of this before but will really need a free weekend to read up on it all; the money expert page on it has about a million different links.

Kowalski - i also saw you do/did this before. Any comments? Simply put is this actually viable to do this and always make a profit as long as you always follow the instructions & don't make mistakes?

BroadswordWSJ 20-04-2016 05:10 AM

Whats the gambling laws like in Spain? Can you not do it online?

Will probably PM you once I find actual time to read up on it in, only spent around 20 minutes skimming the high level concepts & details so far.

Shahanshah 20-04-2016 06:00 PM

500 a month is a lot. Its also a lot of time. I left it as i was a student who needed the float and bankroll to pay off. Never got back into it.

If you make 200 a month after the initial 2 month heater you get with all the fresh offers then you are doing well. Most offers usually have to go through multiple bets to cash it out. Each time losing a little. You also only ever get £5/ £10 free bets so it takes ages.

Although you can get apps that help you out a lot apparently now.

Good luck but realistically you'll only ever make beer money or some savings to use onc a year or add to some long term thing. You'll never make enough to even make it a second job (unless you put more effort into it than iys worth).

BroadswordWSJ 21-04-2016 06:31 AM

Thanks Shah.

Not looking for it as a second job, Im well busy enough with my main one as it is & financially make good enough money. But if it was an opportunity to bolt an extra £200-500 a month on garenteed & the effort was only minimum/medium I thought why would I not do this?

But if its a case of something along the lines of trawling through loads of small bets & bonus offers for hours at a time that you need to do to churn out say £200 a month; the effort VS reward ratio wouldnt be worth it for me. My free time is limited to Fri-Sun so sounds like I'll probably give this a miss, but I'd still like to have alook & see.

Cheers.

Shahanshah 21-04-2016 06:47 PM

Definitely give it a try especially as at first you make a lot of money quickly but i was making a point of how its not as much money as many people think and it does require a lot of tedious work.

I think 200-300 a month is manageable but it is a bit of effort.
