I donít find going to an office to be a satisfactory or beneficial change of scenery. On the other hand working from home means Iím not tied to Madrid. So for a dramatic and wonderful change of scenery I now live in Sevilla... and in a few months maybe somewhere else, unless they make us go back to the office again.

Peace,

kowalski

I wasn't looking for a general change of scenery, I needed as much distraction and shake ups of my routine as I could get. You know how I was feeling a month ago about that girl. So going back to the office, no matter how insignificant that is on the surface, felt necessary to me at that time. I guess you could call it an essential journey ha.

Aside from that, the kind of role I have within the company in the operations team is one where we're better together, especially now, because we have new starts and they need direct supervision and support from experienced motherfuckers like me. I'm happy to be there.

Aside from that even further, I'm currently engaged in the application process for a couple of remote, online jobs. The aim is to create another source of income rather than replace my job, but I'll always remain open-minded and willing to explore opportunities that further benefit me and make life more enjoyable and fulfilling.

I'm slightly envious of you being somewhere as sexy sounding as Sevilla. My current job wouldn't be workable from another country, at least not currently. There are possibilities for that but it would be very much in the distant future if the company went continental or international. That would be way off though, we haven't even went UK wide yet.

Given the proposed end of lockdown (21st June 2021 to date in the UK), has anyone been told that after this date they have to return to work?

I've not; in fact as I predicted, home working looks like it'll be strongly encouraged afterwards for the majority of the time. Given this'll be summer I'll welcome the opportunity to continue working in my underpants and watching X-files + the odd game session.

Professional bum. I post here as I have too much time on my hands :P

I've been trying to get a second (online) job all year. Had probably 15 rejections so far but I keep trying.

The most recent one I'm awaiting word from in as an editor - or something like that - for Wikimedia. Last night I applied for one as a Gaming Review Writer with Screen Rant. I probably have others pending too, but ultimately all the jobs I'm applying for are quite similar in that they're based around content / writing / editing etc.

In my main job, it can get quite frustrating, being the one left trying to explain to customers, the fuck ups the company overlooked in the beginning that are now coming back to bite us in the balls. It's very frustrating and at times outright infuriating. I feel underpaid and underappreciated. Part of me wants to say fuck this and walk out, but then I'm unwilling to, after everything I've contributed to them, walk out without getting a reward for my efforts.

It's not all bad of course, in fact it's mostly good when considering the bigger picture in that the next 5 years are being mapped out and so the potential for growth with them is a very realistic and almost inevitable outcome, but if I don't get a promotion within the next 6 months I'll be very pissed off.
