I'm not sure but there was a study done a while ago that suggested that drinking very hot tea increases the risk of throat cancer. She didn't have that, I can't remember exactly what it was in the tea that damaged her throat but it left her barely able to speak, I'll call her tonight.

She said it was early stages of throat cancer because she drank her tea basically as soon as the water was boiled, burning her throat.
But also she consumed over 20 mugs per day.

Link to 1 of the studies performed - here

Another follow up story by the BBC - here

Quote:
They suggest an increase in the chances of cancer of the throat if you have very hot foods and drinks (70+ degrees C) regularly. Drinking a cup of tea in under two minutes straight after it was poured was associated with a five-fold higher risk of cancer compared with drinking tea four or more minutes after being poured.

Though, there was no association between the amount of tea consumed and risk of cancer.

It's almost impressive to find something that doesn't cause cancer nowadays, I don't understand how people can drink tea straight away anyhow, it has to sit for a while.

A problem can not be solved from the same logical level it was created.

I agree with you D!ce.

And I also let my tea cool down for a while before drinking. A family friend who's about 50 ish had been drinking tea, sometimes even downing it within 2 minutes of been boiled since he was in his teens and never had any throat problems.

Right now I'm sat on a bed in a city centre clinic with a drip administering the H201 cancer treatment stuff that is being compared to the already marketed (?) cancer treatment Herceptin. I've had blood drawn a couple of times & every 10 minutes I have to lie down to have my blood pressure taken. I feel fine so far & I'm pretty sure this will not kill me. One thing I've learned though, is that I'll be careful how I drink tea from now on.

True you have to wait 3 months between trials before you can be considered again. The company's keep each other updated so that people can't overapply.

This could sound a little hypocritical coming from a lad who is currently on a trial, but the guy you talk about must be stupid to do trial after trial after trial, that's a death wish. No actually I'm right, he is stupid.

The foods good. I had a chicken curry yesterday when I arrived, & the chicken wraps we had at lunch were delivered to the clinic, & we're getting chilli con carne for dinner, lasagne tomorrow.

However, we're only allowed to eat what they give us, which is not not a lot, 3 small enough meals a day.

We can drink as much water as we like though, so there is some element of control over your intake.

Check this out:
Tightwad selling a testicle for $35,000

A guy is selling his testicle for $35,000. If that's not crazy enough in the article it said he participated in an Ebola virus study that paid $5k/week. Dedication!

I'm just about to nod off on the very top bunk of a cosy little cubicle.

I'll be getting woke up at 4:45am to ensure I'm well awake for a dosage of kids ibuprofen an hour later, liquid form.

It's a 2 night stay, then home for a night, then a 2 night stay, then home for a night, then another 2 night stay.

The same procedure will happen each time, except each time the kids ibuprofen will be slightly different.

2 weeks after it all I'll receive a check for 1040.

In the morning 16 participants out of the 20 will get dosed. Those who don't will only receive 65 but will be guaranteed a place on the next trial that comes up.

Ps. This facility is literally 2 or 300 yards from my front door.
