I work in the pharmaceutical industry, and have met people who used to travel around Europe doing phase 1 trials. At one point in London there was an insane premium for Japanese volunteers, as metabolism in Japanese people can be quite different.
Hope the screening goes well.
There's two groups for this current study. I tried for the first one but screening was due to be on the 15th of September. My last dose on the last trial was on the 16th of June, which is 1 day less than three months. For this reason they couldn't let me in to the first group.
So yeah, they automatically check the system for over-volunteering, and even one stupid day can write you off.
I've had periods where little things would go tits up and put you out of a study, or the pharmaceutical company pulled the medication, or any number of stupid little things that could go wrong. So you just kinda take any half decent and safe sounding one you can, as even then it's never guaranteed until you're walking out the door on the final day. So there's no point in waiting for bigger "pay days". And anyway, the ones you get for the £4000 mark mean being in the clinic for like a month. Fuck that.
