You're right, it will probably be a better thread if I give some real life context. I'll do that moving forward.

In a nutshell, as far as last night is concerned. I let Approach Anxiety get the best of me. I kept worrying about my body positioning, feeling uncomfortable to approach, & trying to avoid awkwardness/rejection.

The theory I posted here is for me to use as reference to overcome this sticking point.
