Default Film - The Pick Up Artist 1987 - 30-12-2013, 04:02 PM

Long before there was an organised PUA community this film called The Pick Up Artist and Staring Robert Downy and Molly Ringwold came out. You can watch it online for free here:

I have already seen it and it is not that great, but you can get some new tips from it. It is quite short at under 90 minutes but is worth watching if you haven't seen it before. It is perhaps better for motivation than anything else as after watching this film you will want to go out and approach.

The only reason I watched it was to see the differences in acting between Robert Downey and Robert Downey Jr.

Can't help but think that the movie is a guide to how to be a stalker.

Why is he a stalker when he approaches lots of different women? A stalker is someone who repeatedly approaches the same woman over and over again. I personally found the film quite educational as it taught me opening techniques and lines that are not used in the mainstream seduction community. I like the way he opens with. "Hi my name is Jack Jericho, I just couldn't help noticing this great looking outfit" etc. He is sort of direct/indirect. And it is worth trying lost of different opening techniques.

Did you watch the movie or did you just take out the part where he follows and keeps on approaching the same woman; the main focus of the film?

I watched the whole film. And he doesn't come across as a stalker at all to me.

I did write something but in a momentary lapse of judgement I clicked 'back' instead of 'submit'.

I basically wrote, for 3/4 of the film he had oneitis with the girl and a fairly large proportion of the film was dedicated to him running after 1 girl at her workplace, home and in the street, in a desperate attempt to get her.

He came across as a stalker and needy. Whereas, in the first 1/4 of the film where he actually approaches a select few women on the street, he was good. But the things you took from the film are basic and are knowledge that can be found anywhere.

The film went rapidly downhill from there on.

That was roughly my post I was going to post. This thread is dead. My last post on this thread.
