An 8.5 approached me in a club and the game was on. I DHV'd with great stories, Built a serious emotional connection, physically escalated and long story short she was on top of me on a couch in the club and was incredibly turned on as we made out.

She wanted to find her friends so I did the good thing and helped her find them. They were busy with other guys so we agreed to find them later and continued with our thing.

I had played non-needy, did false takeaways, negged her in good ways all night, and had great fun, but when it came to taxi time, she went home alone!

I brought her to the taxi rank, when she was getting in, all the random girls around the cab were telling her bring me home, saying I looked gorgeous, and told her she was crazy to leave me, but she still insisted on getting in herself and left me! She told me just minutes before that she was entirely attracted to me, she had been in a breakup from 1 year before, but honestly, I think I just played the final cards poorly.

Any ideas on how to handle this situation better?

By the way, I couldn't bring her to my place because I didn't have one to bring her to, I was in a town with friends staying in a hostel!!

Should have tried to get her back to your hostel, or better yet moved her to another location like another bar or food place. Just another public place where you build more comfort. Then try to move for the f-close.
