5 a day per product, testing 2-3 products per day is how much you should spent on FB advertising. 105 a week on just 3 products. That's ridiculous!

Sure it will come back eventually, but something silly like 1 in 100 products are good sellers. Also when taking into account the fact that even if you're making sales, said sales must take into account the marketing cost, the product cost and postage, other wise you're going to make a loss. It seems logical enough but alot of people trip up on that.

I've made about 40 in sales in total all from a single campaign. I've spent about 500 on advertising alone. That campaign was a fluke and I made a loss.
What were you selling on shopify?

I planned/plan to use the UK based web host known as EKM. One of them told me it was reasonable to set a budget of 20 quid per week for FB advertising. I don't know exactly how it works, although 5 quid a day works out at 150 per month which is not extortionate if you were actually making money back.

It's extortionate if you're not, though. That 5 for a single advert.

You should ideally be running 2-3 a day if you are testing. It's cost 450 a month to keep 3 adverts running for an entire month. Imagine how much it would cost for 100-150 adverts? You can easily lose thousands in this game!

I'm not working so that's way too much for me.

What do you mean 5 a day for a single advert and doing 2 or 3 a day? Does one advert last 10 mins and disappears or how does it work?

I'm not saying 150 is peanuts if you don't have it to spare. Just that if you were able to use it wisely and get a decent return it wouldn't be so bad.

If and when I start something I was hoping to be on every possible platform that you could use/get away with advertising for free on. To trial before starting to pay.

Did you find any ways to advertise for free?

And, what was your store selling?

The money can only be used wisely if you know what you are doing. Unless you personally know someone who does it and is very successful and they show your method, you are going to have to rely on trial and error.

How FB ads work is they show loads of people, usually a set amount based upon how much you're willing to spend, the advert and when it reaches the limit, the ad will stop. Ad manager will then show how successful your conversions were. This need to be much lower the product price so you can make money. The longer it is run, the more optimised it becomes.

When I say 2-3 ads I mean products, however some people will split the demographic to see what converts best, then cut those which do not work.

I know a guy who tests 100 products a week.

YEs there are ways to advertise for free bu they're. You can advertise to a mailing list of customers, but you need customers to start with. Sure you can use any list but a list from you stores customers is specifically targeted. There's a greater chance they'll return, even if they hadn't bought anything.

There's also SEO, but that's an entirely different board game.

My store is a general one aimed at women, but I started it off as a jewellery one. I gave it a feminine yet generalise name and theme, which works as I can adapt it from almost any use. General stores are honestly the best way to go, then branch out into niches when you find something which sells like hot cakes.

Affiliate marketing might interest you If you're a good writer. It relies heavily on SEO but can be started up super cheap. A domain name for a tenner and free hosting, job done!
If you're a shit writer, or do not have the time, you can also employ people to do that shit too!
