So I figure saving money ties in pretty well with making money and I've not had much to post about here for a while with my relationship going smoothly so thought I'd bring this topic up.

Call me tight but saving £10 feels better than making £20 imho.

So guys I'm sure as a collective we know the ins and outs of a few different ways to save each other a few quid!

I personally don't pay for internet by finding "hotspots" with a long range wifi card/router that relays a signal into my house, I also use online services like netflix to watch all my movies (get that freely also) and even legally you don't need a tv licence if you watch everything on catchup..

Don't expect slow speeds either I get about 20meg and can play xbl fine over it, also its only a small device so I use it abroad and in hotels for free wifi

So if anyone else knows some 'grey' areas to save some cash just waiting to be exploited I figure they're as good as any for making money!

Id deffo suggest checking out http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/ as a first stop. That website is mint for saving cash. Id say just try to haggle for everything. I rang up my mobile provider complaining when they bumped up my contract costs and got it dropped from £32 and month to £26 a month.
Ring bother, annoy and complain to every company, business you pay any of your hard earned cash to and see if you can get a better deal.

db what setup are you using to find free hotspots and are you in a town centre

I live in a reasonably densly populated area but my dad lives pretty out in the sticks and I still got a few at his, it will likely work anywhere barring farms..

I use this with the ap121u for re-broadcasting but you could just use the Alfa and share with connectify on the laptop to save money, mines just a slightly more long term solution..

I get paid more than all of my friends by a mile yet 2 weeks into the month and im skint and have to borrow off everyone! im known for being terrible with it.

I spend silly amounts of money on nights out, eating out and general shit that i dont need. i have tried lots of different things to survive the month and it has never worked. i not bothered if by the end of the month i have no money as long as i camn get to the end of the month without borrowing.

I need help guys!!!

one of my faves, changed my decision making

I found the best way to overcome this was to have an account that I could only withdraw cash using a bank book. Pretty old fashioned but you had to go into the bank to get your cash. This makes it harder to get at.

Next I set up standing orders. One to a savings account straight after payday and made equal payments into my visa debit account every week (well nearly equal it paid my rent in with the first lot so I could pay that)

It's a pain to set up but once it's done, it's done you get regular "pocket money" at a budget instead of thinking I'll go all out.
