Do you feel like there's enough of a disconnect between how you perceive the situation and how everyone else does? Like do you really feel like you can go up feeling like you're being nothing but normal and civil, and everyone else who sees it would see it as creepy harassment to the point they'd call the police on you?

You either know you're being that creepy or you don't. If you do, then you're being intentionally creepy, you know it, and there's something pathological going on with you that you need to sort out way before you start giving a shit about doing game. If you don't then sorry, but game isn't for you, and you don't have the social awareness to do it without putting yourself and others at risk.
